The Pulitzer Prize is the annual award given by the University of Columbia to achievements in newspapers and online journalism, literature, drama and music. There are 21 awards, and the one I am going to focus in the one of “Breaking news photography”.
Breaking News Photography
This prize was given this year to a group of professional photographers from the Associated Press because of their extraordinary coverage of the civil war in Syria. The group is formed by Manu Brabo, Rodrigo Abd, Narciso Contreras, Khalil Hamra and Muhammed Muheisen.
Here I show some of the winner photographs:
A Syrian man cries while holding the body of this dead son (October 2012). By Manu Brabo.
A man teaching an eleven years old boy how to use a toy grenade in Syria (March 2012). By Rodrigo Abd.
A rebel sniper and a rebel fighter are reflected in a mirror in a residential building in Syria (October 2012). By Narciso Contreras.
Syrian army fighters sitting in a house on the outskirts of Aleppo, Syria (June 2012). By Khalil Hamra.
A ten years old boy in a camp for displaced Syrians. He suffered burns in a Syrian government airstrike and had to fled his home with his family (December 2012). By Muhammed Muheisen.
